He was a former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Elmer was a decorated World War I1 veteran serving as an infantry squad leader in the U.S. Army, divisions 435 AA and 473 Inf. This veteran received two purple hearts, two bronze stars, and many other medals. Dude was a heavy equipment operator for over fifty years, enjoyed doing woodwork for his friends and family, and fishing with his grandchildren in his later years. Dude was blessed to have passed away with all of his loved ones surrounded by his bedside.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Alphus, and mother, Letha Eugene Alexander; his son, Rodney Craig Alexander; six siblings, one being a twin sister. Elmer is survived by his loving wife, Dottie Evelyn Alexander; three sons: Gary Alexander, Danny Alexander, and Kevin Alexander; five step-daughters; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She then worked in the dental office of her first husband. After the passing of her first husband, she found employment at a bank and finally ran the office for Dr. Ben Groner after she moved to the Corpus Christi area. She remained active by volunteering in the ER at Spohn Hospital after her retirement. Sherry's hobbies included reading, watching cooking shows, working crossword puzzles.

She will be remembered fondly for her feisty attitude towards life, wonderful cooking, beautifully painted nails, love of anything milk chocolate, and her red hair. Sherry is preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Joseph Vincent Kassler, her daughter, Daryl Smith, and her second husband, John E. Holmes Jr. She is survived by her sister, Glenna Wunderlich of Pittsburgh, PA, two nephews, her grandson, Vincent (Mary) Smith of Aransas Pass, Texas, and one great granddaughter.

Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Funerals 1201 RASCO Leonard "Lin" Douglas Rasco was born January 1, 1930 in Spur, Texas, and passed into eternal life on May 26, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer and just three months after his beloved wife, Cora Bird Rasco, passed away. Lin has now joined Cora in heaven where they are once again taking care of each other and will be together forever.

Lin was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Matthew Rasco and Cora Linnie Rasco; a son, David Owen Rasco; a brother, Jesse James "Bud" Rasco; and a sister, Ruby Jewel Rasco. Lin is survived by his step-son and daughter-inlaw Billy and Connie Bird of Corpus Christi, Texas; a son Eugene Matthew Rasco; three daughters: Regina Kathryn Rasco, Joyce Evelyn Rasco and Yvonne Marie Rasco; a brother Robert Calvin Rasco (Marion); and a sister Syble Lorene Church (Walter) all of California and Nevada. Lin was a lifelong truck driver and purchased his first truck in California in 1944. In 1973, Lin left California and moved to Corpus Christi where he met Cora and Billy. Lin hauled everything from produce to pipe all across the United States.

He was an owner operator and mostly recently leased to Venture Transport for several years until his retirement earlier this year. Lin was very proud of his newest truck a 2003 Peterbilt. Lin was a kind, gentle man and loved to talk and tell stories. He would get so tickled himself while telling stories that he'd have to repeat them a few times to finish them. Lin's life revolved around Cora and Billy.

Together, they were a team and showed unconditional love for one another continually. Lin's wishes were to be cremated, with no funeral services. A small family memorial service will be held at later date. The family would like to thank Alma and Kathryn from Vista Care and Sue from Trisun Nursing Center. These three are truly Angels took great care of both Lin and Cora throughout their sicknesses and final days on earth.

He was a well known businessman in Corpus Christi and the owner of the successful shoe boutique, Mr. Paul's Shoes. He was married to Julia Gross for 53 years before her death in 1996.

The couple was known for their compassion and willingness to help others. After cremation, he will be interred beside her at Seaside Memorial Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
