MARGOT ROBBIE SAYS ‘OPPENHEIMER’ PRODUCER ASKED HER TO MOVE ‘BARBIE’ PREMIERE DATE: During an episode of Variety‘s Actors on Actors series released Tuesday (December 5th), Margot Robbie revealed that Oppenheimer producer Charles Roven called her to see if she would move the release date for Barbie, so that the two movies wouldn’t overlap. Speaking to Cillian Murphy, she said, “One of your producers, Chuck Roven, called me, because we worked together on some other projects. And he was like, ‘I think you guys should move your date.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving our date. If you’re scared to be up against us, then you move your date.’ And he’s like, ‘We’re not moving our date. I just think it’d be better for you to move.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving!'”

JOEY KING RESPONDS TO JACOB ELORDI’S NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT ‘THE KISSING BOOTH’ FRANCHISE: Joey King shared her two cents on The Kissing Booth franchise, after he ex-boyfriend and costar Jacob Elordi expressed distaste for starring in them. “I think it's unfortunate anyone would feel that way,” King told Variety recently. “I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says.” This comes after Elordi told GQ he “didn't want to make those movies before I made those movies” and called them “ridiculous.”

AVA DUVERNAY‘S FILM ‘ORIGIN’ WAS FUNDED BY PHILANTHROPISTS RATHER THAN STUDIOS: In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Ava DuVernay spoke about the untraditional route she took to get her new film, Origin, made. Instead of being financed by studios, philanthropists including the Ford Foundation and nonprofits funded by Melinda French Gates backed the project. “It’s like the market’s telling us this stuff doesn’t really work right now,” DuVernay told the outlet. “So if the market tells us that this is not a value proposition for studios … it might be a value proposition for another entity.” She added, “I’d say 99 percent of folks would not get this film greenlit because it’s unruly. It’s adapting a book people call an unadaptable book, about a very tough, dense, unattractive subject. Then the main character is surviving grief. This doesn’t sound like a Marvel movie. How am I going to get people through the door for it?” Origin is based on the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson, which looks at the legacy of racism in America.

THE NOMINEES FOR THE 29TH ANNUAL CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS ARE ANNOUNCED: Deadline reports that the television nominees for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards were announced on Tuesday (December 5th). The Morning Show led the way with six nominations, followed by Succession with five nominations.
