Abductor Virgins (Volcano Manor Boss) - Elden Ring Guide - IGN (2024)

The Abductor Virgins are a pair of optional boss fights in Elden Ring, located in a secret underground area of Mt. Gelmir's Volcano Manor Legacy Dungeon.

Unlike other boss fights in many legacy dungeons, the Abductor Virgins are not found anywhere near the main path. In fact, they are located in the Abductor's Inquisition Chamber, along a secret lava-filled path that exits out onto the edge of the Altus Plateau.

There are two ways to reach them - getting abducted early in Raya Lucaria, or seeking them out while in Volcano Manor itself.

Many players may encounter them early on accident if they are killed by the lone Abductor Virgin lurking at the bottom of the water wheel area in the Academy of Raya Lucaria (Patches himself will offer a hint about it at the Scenic Isle in Liurnia, but lie about where you're sent if you are grabbed by them).

Alternatively, you can reach it while in the Volcano Manor. Exit the Temple of Eiglay to the west, and look along the side of the ledge to the south, and you can find a small ledge below a body dangling over the ledge. Drop down to find a series of ledges leading into a tunnel that empties out by the lavafall where the Abductor Virgin at Raya Lucaria transports you.

From here you can follow the lava flows down a series of tunnels and holes to find the Subterranean Inquisition Chamber, and jump across some fallen pillars in the lava to find a cave where the Abductor Virgins guard the cave's exit.

Abductor Virgins Boss Fight

If you got caught while exploring the Academy this will likely be your most challenging (and frustrating) boss fight yet. Battling two powerful enemies in such a small space can feel impossible, especially considering they both have wide ranges and an incredibly powerful grab attack.

The best way to approach this fight, naturally, is to try and take them out one at a time to simplify the situation. You will want to focus on the (Wheel) Abductor first because it is the more mobile and in your face of the two. Stand close to the wall and let it come to you. Do not approach the (Sickle) Abductor at all. You want it to stay in the middle of the room as much as possible. Try and position the camera so that you can see both Abductors at the same time. Keep your shield up and your eye on the (Sickle) Abductor. You need to make sure you are dodging the attacks from the (Wheel) Abductor while also avoiding the long range sickle throw from the other. You just need to have patience and wait for a moment where they both attack at the same time, then attack the (Wheel) Abductor while the (Sickle) Abductor is withdrawing its blade.

This does not leave a lot of opening for attacks, but slow and steady wins the battle. Pay close attention to the habits of both Abductors because you will probably need a few attempts to get it just right. Both Abductors have an attack where they spin around in slow circles swinging their weapons around. The (Sickle) Abductor's version of this attack is much more dangerous due to its range, so simply run in the opposite direction if you see it winding up.

Both Abductors also have their devastating grab attack. You will need to learn the timing of the grab, and dodge roll in right as the arms lunge at you. Dodge rolling in may seem counterintuitive, but it gives you tyhe best opportunity to attack the exposed insides of the Abductor for massive damage.

Once you have defeated the (Wheel) Abductor take a deep breath, heal up, and prepare to focus on the (Sickle) one. At this point you will already be very familiar with its attacks, so don't rush. Block all of its arm swing attacks and try to bait out the grab so you can hit the core. Like I said before, if it begins to spin simply run as far away as you can.

Defeating the Abductors will get you the Inquisitor's Girandole, and will open up an exit which lets you get outside and activate the nearby Seethewater River Site of Grace. This will be a boon later, as this Site of Grace will help you more easily access the Volcano Manor when the time comes.
